Research the residual, not just the company list
Documentation available today
This offer is documentation-only: read the current methodology and download the specification, data dictionary and schema header below. These explain the proposed residual series without supplying provider-data exports or measurement rows. Any numeric sample remains subject to source-by-source rights review.
A proposed residual-series research pack
The proposed pack would add dated residual calculations, a data dictionary, source and observation-date notes, coverage-change flags, and an explicit separation between comparable observations and scenarios. The research question is how the residual changes on a consistent basis, not how many individual investors hold bitcoin.
Any pilot depends on a feasible question, source coverage and rights review. A numeric sample or commercial licence is not currently offered through this page. We do not promise historical depth, complete ETF coverage, delivery dates or permission to redistribute third-party inputs.
Download the documentation sample
Available now: an original specification with field definitions, calculation rules and limitations, plus a CSV header to inspect the proposed format. These files contain no measurement rows. This is not an observed data sample and contains no invented holdings.
What must stay visible in any future sample
- Supply minus recorded corporate holdings, included funds, government estimates and assumed lost coins equals a residual, not measured household ownership.
- Missing institutional coverage can inflate that residual. Fund vehicles can hold coins for individual investors.
- Source observation, retrieval and publication dates may differ. A changed snapshot is not evidence of a purchase on that date.
- Fund coverage and loss assumptions must match before points are compared. Reconstructed history and future scenarios are not observed time-series data.
See the current methodology, residual calculation and scenario limits before defining a pilot.
